HOME INTERIOR DESIGN TRENDS
THE MINIMALIST
Minimalism aims for simplicity and objectivity. It wants to reduce works to the fundamental, the essential, the necessary, and to strip away the ornamental layers that might be placed on top. Minimalist designs tend toward more whitespace, better typography, grid layouts, and less color.
THE MURAL WALL
Botanical designs, a metallic twist on geometric patterns, and applying wallpaper in the bathroom are among the biggest wallpaper trends for 2021. With wellness in the home being a continuing trend, our love for botanical designs will feed into this, bringing the outside in and creating a sense of calm.
RUSTIC VOGUE DESIGNS
The rustic vogue trend is perfect for mixing the old and the new, where existing sentimental vintage pieces are set against modern sofas, dining sets and coffee tables,’ she says. ‘For a timeless look, opt for natural or dark muted tones rather than bold patterns on large furniture such as sofas and armchairs.
EARTHY GROUND DESIGNS
Brown is often seen as solid, much like the earth, and it’s a color often associated with resilience, dependability, security, and safety. Feelings of loneliness, sadness, and isolation. In large quantities, it can seem vast, stark, and empty, like an enormous desert devoid of life. Global color authority, Pantone, announced their selection for Color of the Year 2021 and it’s a combination of two. The shades chosen are Ultimate Gray and Illuminating – a rock gray and a sunshine yellow, respectively.
SCANDINAVIAN BOHO DESIGNS
This style promotes an open plan living, modern furniture, exposed woods and natural materials. The Scandinavian Boho style is seen as a new interpretation, mixing modern with woods. With this trend, your space will have the best of both worlds; modern living with a touch of rustic, balancing your home perfectly.
PLANT INTERIORS
Nowadays, the use of plants in modern interior design is getting more and more popular. Not only making spaces more appealing and alive, they also play a role in your overall health. Plants help reduce stress and anxiety: They can also help you lower your blood pressure, feel calmer and self-aligned. Foliage plants are great for adding green, but indoor blooming potted plants bring the intense color pops we love to brighten our days. Most can agree that hydrangeas, cyclamen, kalanchoe, and orchids have all seen an increase in popularity in 2020, and it is only expected to continue into 2021.
COZY LIGHT INTERIORS
Open up your windows and put away any heavy curtains. 2021 there will be a focus on bringing as much natural light as possible into your home, especially during winter months. Hang some blinds or sheer curtains, or simply keep your windows bare, to invite in the sunlight. There are so many benefits to natural light, including an increase in serotonin. And because we’re not venturing out as often due to social distancing, filling your home with sunlight has never been more important.
THE BOTTOM LINE
2021 will ostensibly be about staying home. Make the most of your space by turning it into your own personal oasis. That means making it cozy yet luxurious, relaxing yet bold, and making it include all the things you miss about the outside.
