Our Farm
About Us
In 2013 we left Southern California and professional careers to enjoy a slower paced life and more time for relationships and community, and the goal to work hard to produce a product we take great pride in. We purchased an established five-acre coffee farm with a great reputation here in the Kona Coffee Belt, and are proud to have been cultivating and expanding its potential ever since. We hand pick only the ripe “cherries” during the seven month harvest season, July to January, and process and sun dry the beans on site. We have our coffee roasted by a specialty roaster on island in small batches of Light, Medium, and Dark roasts.
We have participated in the Kailua-Kona Coffee Festival in the fall for several years, and have been in the Top 10 lists, and won the Chef’s Award at the KKCF Stroll in Holualoa in 2022, where three chefs tasted all 18 coffee farms represented, and chose ours.

MAKANA is the Hawaiian word for GIFT. We consider the opportunity to live in Hawaii a gift, and to produce and offer such a delicious product that has and is being enjoyed by so many around the world. It also represents our family name and the names of our children:
Martinez, Andrea, Kiki (that changed to the Kelleys), Alex ‘N Alyssa
We are so pleased to provide our Single Estate, high quality and delicious product for those seeking a delightful and exquisite cup of coffee. We also celebrate that it is part of so many of your morning rituals, and what so many linger over while enjoying time with those they love.
