Alice Yvonne Adkins Thompson, 84, of Genoa, WV went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 9, 2023. Alice was born September 23, 1938 in Weeksburg, KY to the late Guy and Hazel (Hall) Adkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Sherman E. Thompson; daughter Marsha Hammond; son Ernest Gene Thompson; son in law Glen Thompson; grandchildren Taleina Combs and Johnny Mack Bryant; great granddaughter Kaylee Grace Howard; brothers Asher Adkins, Jim Adkins, Joe Adkins, Guy Adkins, Jr., and Donnie Ray Adkins; and special friend Linda Ferguson.
Alice was a very loving mother and grandmother. She loved her family and everyone that met her loved her too. There will never be another mother like her.
Survivors include her children Eddie (Debbie) Adkins of Wayne, WV, Dana Thompson of Fort Gay, WV, Edward “Rocky” (Carol) Thompson of Fort Gay, WV, Lucy (Mark) Hampton of Genoa, WV, Kathy (Tim) Brooks of Wayne, WV, Joe (Rhonda) Thompson of Fort Gay, WV, and Ralph (Diane) Snow of Genoa, WV; 18 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; son in law Kenny Hammond of Lovely, KY; and brother Roy Adkins of San Diego, CA.
The family would like to thank Megan Block, Rhonda Thompson, and Carolyn Thompson for all the love and care they showed taking care of Alice.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Young Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Randy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Thompson Cemetery at Vinson Branch. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Friends may visit the family on Monday, September 11, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Young Funeral Home Chapel.
