Charley M. Prichard, of Louisa, KY went to rest in the arms of his Lord after a brief stay at the Community Hospice Center in Ashland. He was born to Charley Prichard and Alice Salmons Prichard August 8, 1934, one of 10 children.
Mr. Prichard served an illustrious 22+ year military career in the US Navy, and later went on to retire from teaching Adult Education for ACTC in the early 90s. He was married to Mary Mabry Prichard, who preceded him in death in 1988. They shared two daughters, Cheryl Prichard & Tracy Hargrove, and he had two stepsons, Bruce Short (Debra) and Philip Short (Romana).
He is survived by 3 children – his daughters and his stepson, Bruce Short; 8 grandchildren – Bianca MaRou (Mike Wight), Erica Whitaker (Chris Swecker), Amanda Neal (Brian), Michael Hargrove, Alan Short (Chelsee), Bryan Short (Nichole), Philana Mertz (Jacob), and Caleb Short; and 12 great-grandchildren including Bowie Whitaker-Lowe, Wiley Swecker, Delilah Swecker, Edelyn “Janey” Swecker, Harvey Swecker, Lynlee Short, Rèmy Short, Ellie Short, Lucy Short, Naomi Mertz and Elspeth Mertz, as well as many more family and friends who love and miss him.
Visitation will be at Young Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, August 31, 2023 after 7:00 PM.
Graveside services with full military honors will be at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Doug Kelly officiating. Funeral procession will leave Young Funeral Home at 10:00 AM.
