Gary “Sonny” Gilkerson, 67, of Ceredo, WV went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 26, 2023.
Sonny was born May 30, 1955 in Huntington, WV to the late Brady Herman and Dora Ellen (Frasher) Gilkerson. In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by his son Brady Gilkerson and his brothers Danny Gilkerson and Stephen Gilkerson.
Sonny proudly served his country in the US Navy. He retired from the Public Works Department of the Town of Ceredo.
Survivors include his son Shawn Gilkerson; grandchildren Emma Gilkerson, Brooklyn Auxier, Allison Peterman, Emily Gilkerson, Izzy Gilkerson, and Haley Gilkerson; 3 great grandchildren; brothers David Gilkerson and
Michael Gilkerson; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to help offset funeral expenses.
Young Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mr. Gilkerson and his family.
