Kentucky State Police Investigate Shooting

Olive Hill, Ky. (December 18, 2023) –   On December 17, 2023, at approximately 1100 hours, Kentucky State Police, Post 14 received a call from Carter County 911 reporting an incident involving Jonathan Bowling at the residence of 21847 W US 60.

According to the preliminary investigation, Mr. Bowling and Paul Hensley engaged in a verbal altercation at the aforementioned residence. During the altercation, Mr. Hensley discharged a firearm in the direction of Mr. Bowling, resulting in his injury.

Mr. Bowling was promptly transported to a medical facility for necessary treatment. Subsequently, troopers obtained a search warrant for 21847 W US 60, where firearms and narcotics were discovered upon execution of the warrant.

Mr. Hensley was arrested and transported to the Carter County Detention Center. Troopers were assisted by Carter County Sheriff’s Department and Carter County EMS. Mr. Hesley was charged with the following:

  • POSSESSION OF FIREARM BY CONVICTED FELON,
  • POSS CONT SUB, 3RD DEGREE – DRUG UNSPECIFIED,
  • DRUG PARAPHERNALIA –
  • BUY/POSSESS and
  • MURDER (ATTEMPT). 

The case remains under investigation by Trooper Ethan Hartsell.
