Morgan County, Kentucky Sheriff Deputy Injured While Trying To Capture Fleeing Suspect

MORGAN COUNTY, KENTUCKY SHERIFF OFFICE   DEPUTY SHAWN PACK, WHO SUFFERED MULTIPLE SERIOUS INJURIES AFTER A FALL WHILE CHASING ON FOOT AFTER A SUSPECT, RESULTING  IN DEPUTY PACK HAVING TO BE AIRLIFTED TO THE UK HOSPITAL IN LEXINGTON,, KY.

The Morgan County Sheriff Office in West Liberty, Kentucky reported that one of their deputies was seriously injured on the job this past Friday.

According to Morgan County Sheriff Greg Motley, he reported that one of his deputies, deputy Shawn Pack, suffered multiple injuries in a fall while attempting to apprehend a suspect during a foot pursuit on early Friday morning, December 8.

Deputy Shawn Pack was taken from the scene by emergency first responders and he was then airlifted to University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY. for his treatment.

Sheriff Motley further asked that the public keep deputy Shawn Pack in their thoughts and prayers while he is recovering from his injuries.

Sheriff Motley stated that his office would release more details about the chase incident ‘soon’.

Sheriff Greg Mottley and the Morgan County Sheriff Office, as well as deputy Shawn Pack’s family, offered their thanks to the Morgan County Volunteer Rescue Squad, Blackwater Volunteer Fire Department, 519 Volunteer Fire Department, Morgan County Ambulance Service, West Liberty Volunteer Fire Department, West Liberty Police Department and Elliott County Ambulance Service for successfully treating and removing deputy Pack from the scene. 

Sheriff Motley especially gave a personal thanks to the responding troopers from the Kentucky State Police Post 8 in Morehead, in Rowan County, KY., the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife and the dedicated deputies of his department for their assistance in this investigation.
