Ruth Eleanor Thompson
1957 – 2016
Ruth Eleanor Thompson, 58, of Ft. Gay, W.Va., passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016 at her home.
She was born October 18, 1957 at Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Lindsey and Dora Thompson. Also preceding her in death was one son, Eric Crabtree, whom she adored and missed terribly daily; previous husband, Albert Milbeck; and one brother, Clifford Thompson. Ruth enjoyed her job as a secretary at Christian Appalachian Project, in Louisa, where she worked with Richard and Cathy Ginn whom always provided great support for Ruth.
She leaves behind her son, Dale (Tara) Crabtree of Louisa, Ky.; one granddaughter, Michaela Messer; and her beloved dog and constant companion Peaches who was there for her when no one else could be.
Also surviving is five sisters, Mary Muni of Florida., Sue Griffith, Dixie Caynor, both of Huntington, Edith (Loyd) Cottrill of Fla., and Erie (Donald) Maggard of Huntington; and four brothers, Frank (Patti) Thompson, Chuck (Burnice) Thompson, all of Ft. Gay, W.Va., Luke (Evelyn) Thompson of Illinois, and Truman Thompson of Milton; and host of nieces and nephews whom she cared for deeply including Polly Workman, Mary Ann Smith, Linda Sue, Jennifer Crabtree, Mark Caynor, Jacob Riggins, Nathan Caynor, and the late Herman Lee Crabtree, Jr. She was also lucky to have many close friends including Rosie Holbrock and the late Betty Jean, and three best friends, April Cook of Lexington, Ky., and the late Pat Crabtree and Judy Parsons.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home, Wayne. Private burial will be held at the Thompson Cemetery, Genoa where she will be laid to rest by her dear son.
