Timothy King Cyrus, 63, of Fort Gay, WV went home to be with the Lord on November 9, 2023 after an extended illness, passing peacefully while surrounded by all his loved ones.
King was born June 21, 1960 in Louisa, KY to the late Delbert and Billie Jean (Dawson) Cyrus. He was the youngest of 5 children.
King was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife Reba of 36 years; brothers T.D (Sheila) Cyrus and Mack Ray (Pat) Cyrus; sisters Delores (Roger) Pennington and Lottie (Roger) Kelly; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of Fort Gay, WV; a special brother and sister in law Harry and Missy Peterman, who were faithful caregivers during his lengthy illness; and a large church family and friends from the many churches in the area, too numerous to count.
King worked for N&W Railroad, built homes, and ran a retail tire business for several years.
King loved the Lord, family and Country beyond measure. His passion was reading the Bible, attending church, and singing. Before his declining health he was a devout member of Oak Grove Church.
King was a true friend, always available to lend a helping hand. He loved physical exercise and could be seen on US Rt 52 walking several miles each day.
2 Timothy 4:7-8 best sums up the life of King Cyrus “I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day, and not to me only, but unto all them that also love his appearing.”
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, November 12, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Oak Grove Church with Pastor Mac Ray Cyrus officiating. Burial will follow in Walker Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Saturday, November 11, 2023 after 5:00 PM at Oak Grove Church.
