Cynthia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), in private practice at Life Forward Counseling. She primarily works with adults with trauma and dysfunction, and family systems, but also really enjoys her couples work. She worked for many years as a medical social worker and facilitated groups at an Intensive Outpatient Program and at a Domestic Violence center. She has broad nonprofit experience and was Executive Director and owner of a social service agency providing mentors, recreation therapy, parent coaching, and summer and after-school services to at risk and disabled youth in the community. In addition, she is cross trained in multiple disciplines such as EMDR, clinical supervision, domestic violence, trauma and mental health, health care, rural social work, child protective services reintegration project, and education.

In addition, Cynthia is active in the community, assisting on micro and mezzo levels. She is former Executive Board Member of the Community Resource and Collaboration Group and a former Executive Board Member of PLAN of Central Texas. She provides continuing education and presentations to other professionals about trauma, attachment, child development, clinical supervision, tolerance, and medical social work issues. As the parent of three adopted children, she brings a lifetime of advocacy and passion for the issues of families who are impacted by emotional and behavioral concerns.

She has worked as an adjunct professor of instruction at the Steve Hicks School of Social Work at the University of Texas for over a decade and received the Lecturer Teaching excellence Award in 2023. Her dedication to the university and the mission of social justice work is evident in her outreach to students and the community. She is a mentor for many students, assists students in with faculty advising and mentoring who are involved with the Bridging Disciplines program, is the Faculty Liaison for Socks for the Sole (a non-profit student run organization addressing issues with the unhoused community), and a member of the strategic planning committee at the School of Social Work.

All people have potential for growth and adaptation throughout life.

With encouragement, kindness, guidance and humor – I can help you, your family, even your organization move Forward.
